Are Links Important For Search Engine Rankings

The amount of quality links pointing to your website determines the popularity of your websites with many of the search engines, so it is very important to obtain quality links. However, you need to know where your website stands in the search engine rankings in order to see how much work you need to do to increase and maintain that popularity rating.

Another way to build links is through free content creation or free article submissions. When creating your website you will need to fill your site with fantastic content and make updates so other sites want to link to your site. Search engines are now smart enough to know that content is related, so, links from relevant sites are more important then links from sites which are irrelevant.

The assumption still is that if a site has valuable content or services to offer that other webmasters will link to that particular site. Most importantly, work on your content for natural linking from other websites. It is hard to get one way links but if you have good content that goes far beyond other sites people will want to link to you, it is still harder to get one way links than it is to get reciprocal links.

Since page rankings is very important to the major search engines, and links influence this, it is important to create a game plan on how to build links to your site. A well laid out plan will help in establishing the overall link plan and strategy to drive traffic to your site. As time goes on your site will grow and your page rank will get better and you will have better chances securing quality links. As you website continues to grow and build in popularity you will need to quality links from other sites pointing to your site to keep your rankings. Link building never stops, if you stop link building and other sites stop linking to you, you could possibly lose your ranking on the search engines.

The amount and quality of links you need will depend on the competitiveness of the keyword phrases for which you are optimizing. If you put in the time and work on your link building efforts over time you will see results in the long run.

Article directories work with many different partners and by writing articles your articles can show up on many different sites. Your best bet in these times is to write articles and submit it to article directories. By using article submission services and directory submission services you are able to increase your ranking to your website, by submitting you are creating one way links back to your site.

Using automated tools are not link farms, the reason for this is because you decide who you want to trade links with each and every week. Continue building quality links and you will see that in time it will all pay off.

Getting the one-way link is more difficult to obtain than reciprocal links, but the pay off will come if you get solid long-term links and you will see the search engine ranking results increase.

10 most important things not do while link building for your website

1. Don’t do too many submissions in directories.

While submitting your website to directories, be careful and don’t submit it to too many directories. In 2006 and 2007 Google has filtered many web directories manually to reduce the weigh on directories. Many of the directories out there today are not good and they are still operating as a link far. In real they are not going to deliver any real value to your website but it may harm your website as Google can see it as a bad neighbourhood.

Another reason for not to submit your website in too many directories is that Google can see this as a effect of SEO process and if they find out that you are trying to do optimization for your website Google might ban your website or de-index your website.

2.  Don’t make too many links from no follow back links

When webmaster put no follow on your link, then you really get link back but original website will not pass any real rank juice or authority to your website. So it’s equal to 0. Still you get a link but with no real value to your website. It might bring some traffic to your website but in terms of ranking or Google page rank increase it will not serve any value at all.

3. Don’t use same title and description while submitting in directory

When you submit your website to many directories, try to use different title and description every time. When you use same title and description, it will create duplicate content and when spider find that your website is linked from many website with same description and title it looks like automated submission. So even if you do manual submission it will result in automated submission and finally you will get your self banned from Google and other search engines.

4. Don’t use same anchor text in all link building.

When you start link building, plan your keywords carefully. And don’t do link building for only 1 keyword as it might create problem later on. Search engine have particular thrash hold for particular keyword or anchor limit. When your back link anchor text reach at that limit or cross that limit Google will remove your from top ranking and put you far behind in search result. So be careful and not to put too much weight on only one keyword.

5. Don’t link to a website which Google cache is older then 2 months

By saying this I mean, don’t link to such a website because Google spider is not coming on this website too often. As you can see that Google has got cache 2 months older that means this website is not updating regularly or there is no good contents or Google has banned this website. Or something is wrong with this website in eyes of search engine. So better not to link to these websites.

6.Don’t submit you press release or article to website which is banned by Google

After 2000 .com fall and when internet once again picked up, there were many websites came up for articles submissions and press release submissions. They claim that they will release your press release to many famous news and article directories and relevant users, but they failed to do so or they did it in such a way that they got banned by Google. Google has reduce weight on those websites so if you submit your PR or articles on these websites and if you get link back from those website Google will see you website as linking to cheap website or cheap resources and you might get hurt by Google spider.

7. Don’t use any automatic submission tools

There are many automatic submission tools available in market now a days. They claim that they are not going to hurt your website and they can dodge search engines and make a submission like a human being. But they forget that machine is machine and human is human. By dong automatic submission you might not get hurt initially and you might get away but when Google or other search engines find out about these automatic submission you might get your self banned. So avoid automatic submission tools and try to invest little bit of time everyday in building natural links. In that way you can make sure that your website will not get hurt.

8. Don’t try to get a link from website which is linking to too many website from different topics

Try to stay on your theme or topic. If you are trying to link to website which is linking to what ever site they came across, then you might get into trouble. As they are not trying to create useful resource for you. They are trying to increase link. So be careful while linking to other websites.

Find out whom they are linking to, what their PR is and how good they can be for your business and then link to them if they are going to deliver you any real value.

9. Don’t link to link farm

Link farm are just website which contain 1000 of useless links or doing too much reciprocal links or out going links and they don’t deliver any real value to anyone.  So be careful and try not to link to these link farms websites. If you get your self into these link farms, you might get your self out of Google index database and hurt your PR or ranking as well.

10. Don’t buy link from website who is just selling links.

Don’t buy links by paying money. Those people are just selling links to many people. If they loose their rank tomorrow then you will be loosing money and also there would be bad mark on your website as they are still linking to you. So avoid buying links from those people who are just selling links.

Why is Linking Important for Your Page Rank

Linking is one of the biggest factors in any search engine marketing strategy. In fact, you are better off spending your time acquiring inbound links than submitting your site to search engines.

Apart from being valuable with regard to search engines linking also helps establish you as an expert in your field, by linking to relevant content on other sites It shows that you are well read in the area of your expertise. Linking in this manner is more or less similar to placing references to other people’s work. In fact, it has been argued that by placing their materials on the Internet (without stating expressly their objection to external links), copyright owners grant ‘implied licenses to other users to link to them. As the founder of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee points out, there is no reason to have to ask for permission to link to other documents. Sites still need back links to rank high in SERP. (SERP or Search engine results page is the result returned when searching a key word. ) For speed o development, buying links from high ranking sites is an option. This is a very expensive method and I don’t recommend it unless you have very deep pockets. However you may have no alternative for building fast quality links unless you can offer high value information on your website so that people will not mind adding a link to your site.

Search engines, particularly Google, use link popularity to help evaluate and rank your website. Link popularity refers to the number, quality and relevance of inbound links from other websites to yours. they recognize the number of incoming links in its algorithm that determines placement rankings, they also look for quality Eg. page rank, the more links a website has the better, but the quality I think is more important than the amount. which may explain why you may appear at position 123 while your competitor appears on page 1. The more page rank a linking page has the more authority it lends to you If you use a reciprocal linking service you are probably wasting your time, the sites that you are linked too are from too wide a range of subjects to have any relevance or authority.

Another factor to consider is deep linking, where the in coming link goes directly to an internal page rather than your home page. For example you may have an article that is on yoursite .com /articles/ happydays.html A link from an outside site direct to that page would be deep linking as it is on the third layer of your site. Deep linking is good for your site as the overall page rank takes into account not only the links to your home page but also the total links to the site.

Google has become skilled at detecting un-natural linking patterns; links to sites that exist only to generate back links for the purpose of improving page ranking. Because of this many SEO experts are going back to fundamentals and using techniques like article writing to develop natural links What is a natural link ? It is an incoming link, it is not recipricol, and it has value (pagerank). If you build enough quality and relevant links to your site you’re site will still have traffic before, during, and after algorithm changes.

Why Link Building is Important

If you have now, or have ever had a website, then you may already know the importance of link building. This is not an easy task, and can take lots of time to accomplish. Link building is simply finding other websites with the same or similar niche as yours, and providing them a link to your site, normally in exchange for a link from theirs. You place the link to their site on your link page, and they reciprocate.

There is a practice of buying link placement. You can find really good page ranking sites, and pay them for the opportunity to place your link on their site. On the other hand, if your site has good page ranking with the major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, you can charge a nice piece of change to allow sites to link to yours. It’s a merry-go-round of links here and there, but ultimately it is one of the most important practices that you will face when building your websites reputation and ranking.

Let’s look at page ranking for a moment. There are many steps involved in receiving a high page ranking, meaning that when someone searches for a keyword that’s associated with your site, your site would preferably be listed in the first 5 pages of the search results. Factors to determine page ranking are based on many things, including keywords, content, and incoming links. If you have links from highly popular sites, that are within your niche, then you will ultimately receive a higher page ranking. The key is to not have too many links, and never place links on your site that have absolutely nothing to do with what your site is about. Search engines do not like link farms. Simply put, a link farm is a page that is filled from header to footer, and everywhere in between with links from wherever you can find them. For instance, you don’t want a link from a coffee site if your site is about animals. Get the picture? Your links need to be of the highest quality, and must have something in common with the overall niche of your website.

Now, you know what you need, let’s talk about how to get it. One way to build up your incoming links is to scour the web and look for sites that have similar content to yours. In a lot of instances, you’ll see an invitation at the bottom of the page, inviting you to be a link partner. Send the site administration an email asking for a link exchange. Then you’ll need to get their linking information and give them yours. Simply place the link on your link page, and you’re finished. Now, you’ll have to do this for every link that you want, so it can be very time consuming.

Another way is to join a linking community. Linking exchange sites such as
www.linkexchange, provide software that you can use to interact with other site owners within your niche. You simply sign up for their program, and you can look for the links you want. You still have to reciprocate by placing links on your site, but it could save you time by not having to search for other sites that offer similar products or services as yours.

Another good way to build your link page is to use a program such as 000links. 000links.com is a site that uses a triangular link building technology. You simply sign up, and the program is free, and set up a campaign, and then you automatically receive links daily. You don’t actually link to the sites that link to yours, but you do have sites linking to you. It’s set up so that you only receive links that are related to your sites content and niche. So while you are still exchanging links, in a sense, you’re not “swapping” links. It makes your links more unique, and search engines find it much harder to see your links as “exchanges”. Unique links are higher in value than reciprocal links, so this is a good system, simply because the search engines see your site as more important, if you have one-way links.

So, you see, link building can be time consuming, or you can try out programs such as 000links.com and let them do it for you.

The main point is that links are important if you want your site to rank higher with major search engines. It will ultimately be your preference in how you build your link page, but just remember that you do need to build it somehow.

Why Backlinks Are The Single Most Important Thing To Long Term Internet Success

Let me begin by saying that if paid advertising is your primary form of Internet promotion this article is probably not for you. However if you are looking at ways of creating long-term Internet success developing backlinks to your website will be important to you.

I find it interesting that the World Wide Web has not changed that much even though Internet marketing has. The Web itself is composed of links all pointing to each other.

If you grasp this concept you can quickly understand why the more backlinks you have pointing to your website from a multitude of different sources the more potential traffic it you can bring to you.

Not only that but the traffic will continue to be there over a long period of time as long as the backlink remain. This means you must spend the majority of your time creating quality back links and all of your marketing efforts.

In the early days of Internet marketing reciprocal linking was very popular. Trading links with other sites was a way to create backlinks to your site.

This strategy is not as popular today because link directories are pretty much discarded by the major search engines. Not only that but you want to spend as much of your time creating one way backlinks to your site and not away from your site.

So how do you go about creating one way backlinks? Here are 3 easy ways that are working very well today and should be incorporated into your linking strategy.

1. Write and submit articles to the top article directories. In each article you can include a link pointing back to your website and your resource box.

For additional keyword relevance try hyperlinking your primary keyword phrase to your site as well. As you begin to develop backlinks to your homepage begin deep linking to sub pages within your site from your article resource boxes too.

2. Write blog articles and submit them to the top social directories. Search engines love fresh content and your blog articles will be spidered quickly if you submit them to the top social directories. We are talking about sites such as Digg, Stumbleupon, Propeller, Technorati, and more.

Each article submission creates a backlink to your blog or specific blog article. If you do not have a blog you are missing out on easy traffic and long term quality backlinks.

3. Utilize social networking to create links pointing back to any web page you have. For example when you create a new web page announce it as an update on your Twitter account.

When you Tweet your followers this way you are creating back links to any webpage or blog post you make. Again the search engines will find these, as well as your readers, giving you more potential traffic.

Other popular social networks to join and create a profile with your website address in include Facebook, My Space, eEntrepreneur, and many others.

I feel that the most important thing you can do to create a long-term Internet presence is concentrate on backlinks regardless of how the Internet changes in the future. These three ways right now are excellent to create backlinks to your website and blog!

What Are Backlinks and Why Are They Important

Everyone wants traffic to their website. However, most people don’t know what it takes to get traffic. It’s a simple process, contrary to what the gurus will tell you. All you have to do is find good keywords, write quality content based on those keywords and then build backlinks to that content.

This is where most people drop the ball. They think if they write it people will come. This just isn’t true. What makes your content any better than the next guy’s What makes Google or any other search engine chooses to show your site in the search engine results as opposed to your neighbor’s

The answer is links. The number of people, places, sites that are linking to your content is what makes the difference between whether your site shows up in the search engine results or someone else’s. Now you just need to know what backlinks are and how to get them.

The first question is very simple, and what I will be dealing with in this article. Backlinks, simply put, are links pointing back to your site or a page on your site. Backlinks can happen in any number of ways. You can write something amazing other people like and want to tell people about and they link to you. You can take the process in your own hands and send out articles or make comments on blogs. There are of course, differing degrees of value between backlinks.

Google counts all the backlinks you have to your site. Some links it gives more weight to, others it gives less to. You will be wise to take on a link building strategy that involves both quality and quantity because both are important. You want to get backlinks from high page rank sites, Google likes these and gives you a little more credit for them. You also want to get links from directories, and other quantity type places. Although Google doesn’t give you as much credit for these you certainly get credit for having a lot of backlinks to your site.

The best possible backlink you can get is one where you have your chosen keyword in the anchor text of the link. This means if you had words in a sentence that someone could click on to go somewhere else, these would be your keywords. This is important because you are trying to rank in the search engine for specific keywords. Each time you have a link with a certain keyword or some derivation of it, you get credit. So never, never, write a link and have the words you click on be “click here” that’s a ridiculous waste of a backlink, unless, of course you are linking to someone you don’t want to give a backlink to.

You can link within your own site, from free places like squidoo and hubpages. There are a million places to get backlinks to your site. It can be the most boring part of online marketing, but if you don’t do it you will never find yourself number one in google and getting all that traffic.

Backlinks and Their Important Role on the Internet

I hear this question constantly on the internet recently. Since backlinks play a huge, huge part of how you rank in Google, MSN, etc, then people naturally want to find a fast, easy, and effective way to build backlinks. It has to be a legit way so you don’t find yourself banned one way, so you need to trade like a normal exchange, but in an automated way so you’re continually hunting down trading partners and changing html code all the time.

Despite what you may hear on the internet, backlinks are still very much alive and highly valued by search engines. The internet is sometimes called the Web because, like in a spider web, one point ( a website) connects to many others. Web sites linking to each other is not only usual, but essential.

The deal with Google and backlinks is that they too agree that backlinks are natural. On-topic backlinks that is. Sites naturally, if there were no incentive due to search engines, link to other websites their visitors would also like. This is an on-topic backlink, and is valued by search engines much more than random backlinks for the sake of having a link.

So, what does this teach us as webmasters?

What it means to us is that while we should keep search engines in our mind when working on websites and designing them, the focus should be users. Provide good material and a good website, and you’ll naturally get backlinks and build a relationship with your users. Word of mouth is a very powerful friend indeed.

So, what CAN you can do to build your backlinks?

There are many options you can use to build natural-type backlinks.
1. Write articles. Writing articles(like I am doing now) and having them get out to article directories and other websites means you get free backlinks from good sources. This really helps out, and the more you write, the more gain and traffic you’ll see. Write an article a day and you’re in great shape.

2. Join an on-the-level link exchange site. This means join one in which every exchange is manually approved, and not one where 10,000 links show up to your site overnight. You can see where that is not a natural curve, so stick with link exchange sites that you choose who you link to/from and stay safe. Another positive note is that the other websites are there looking to exchange also, so it’s much faster than searching down websites and waiting weeks for a response.

3. Link directories. This is where you submit your site link, and in return give the directory site a backlink(usually mandatory). Though these aren’t too valueable to Google, they still may get you some visitors here and there which is always a good thing.

So, in conclusion, let’s come back to the initial question. Do link exchanges work? Absolutely. There are many ways to get legit backlinks (much safer) and that’s what you need to concentrate on. The trick is to keep your link partners as close to your topic as you can. The more relevant, the more it weighs.
